An investigation of space as a means of getting closer to a true substance
Highlighting the possibility of warped cognition of matter due to human fallibility through the use of space and dance. |
A Quest for True Substance In the other world that I can see from a small opening in the door There might be a larger world that I was totally unaware of. What I see and know may be only one part of what I Can see from the opening.
Highlighting the possibility of a distorted perception of things owing to limitations in human perspective through the use of space and dance. Lee Na-Hyun's new piece, Anti-Space premiered with two dancers at the Twelve Contemporary Artists 2009 held earlier this year. To accommodate the Small Theater at Daehangno Arts Theater for SPAF 2009, the work has been modified to accommodate five dancers. The impact on human awareness is illustrated by the employment of special lighting and spatial features. A distorted awareness of existence due to human's limited perspective is examined through dance.

At the Twelve Contemporary Artists 2009, Lee Na-Hyun, the choreographer, received critical acclaim for her diverse use of and approach to space using dynamic and flourishing dance language and lighting. Once again, she shows she is intent on solidifying her style of dance with a better-rounded composition with five dancers at the SPAF 2009. So what should we be looking for? Is what we are seeing in front of us real substance? Is it true that what we see is what is really there? How should we be aware of this, and what determines the process? This work brings forth such questions as it also examines 'others' and 'me'. The newly performed Anti-Space will give the audience a chance to encounter the no-nonsense minimal composition and unique dance language of Lee Na-Hyun.
