Of all the traditional plays of China, the Sichuan Opera Theater took part in SPAF2006 with the Gwon opera and is expected to reappear with the Szechuan opera at SPAF2009! This is for the lovers of comic strips who have already known the adventures of the Samjang monk and Sun Wukong and his friends who face numerous hurdles on their way westward including the mountain of fire. Let's pay attention to our Chinese performers for a taste of the mainland's account of the adventure. |
| Sichuan opera is one of the traditional styles of opera in China in addition to Gwon opera and Kyung opera. It originates from the Sichuan region in China. Compared to other operas, the production is sophisticated and full of the vigor of life as it concentrates on acting rather than on dancing or singing. The world famous mask dance and fire show are part of the Sichuan opera. This piece covers an incident in the Chronicle of Suyou in which Samjang Monk and Sonokong and his friends head West and overcome many problems along the way including the mountain in flames. |
