A review of the achievements and overall perspective of SPAF. The center will serve as the network hub for the festival to promote communication between the artists and audience and encourage open exchange among all the participants from Korea and the world.

Along with the Seoul Dance Collection, this platform will prove to be a major arena of competition for Korean drama actors! It is intended to offer a salient starting point for up and coming talent by identifying young actors and encouraging their devolvement in Performing arts both in Korea and around the world. Come and experience enhanced acting skills acquired through the arts of narrative and vocalization as well as knowledge of the humanities.

These events allow the audience to ask questions about the invited performances directly to the theater company members. These conversations provide an invaluable opportunity to talk and listen to the artists and gain a better understanding of the works, which they are consistently grappling with in order to enhance and improve.

Mazumoto Yuko, the director of 1862 in Shakespeare to be presented at Michoo Theater, has been one of the most active directors in Japan since his debut as a director in 1996. He has received critical acclaim for the piece written by the Korean playwright, Jung Eui-Shin, and presented at the Asian Drama Directors Workshop 2006, in which eighteen Korean actors were cast.

SPAF2009 will host a screening and exhibition of works by Vsevolod Meyerhold, who pioneered audience participation in drama in the early 20th century. The screening includes a documentary of the actual live performance of his major work The Puzzles of General Inspector, which premiered in 1926 and a film on Biomechanics training, which gives details on the training of actors based on his theory of biodynamics. A short lecture is scheduled along with an exhibition of photos of performances and posters of works.
The Jasmin Vardimon Company has been officially invited to SPAF2009 with Yesterday. This workshop is hosted in collaboration with Dancers' Career Development Center and is composed of two parts: contemporary dance techniques and creation. The workshop will provide a unique opportunity to explore and learn about the distinctive dance style of the Jasmin Vardimon Company, which links human behavior with social issues.

Michel Lemieux, the 4D art's director, has been invited to SPAF2009 with NORMAN. Continuously exploring new ways to apply multi-media techniques in Performing arts, Lemieux will take part in the media art workshop, co-hosted by SPAF and Art Center Nabi. This workshop will be an exciting chance to discuss the amalgamation of new media and performance arts with media artists from Korea.

"Here is an opportunity to turn your script into real drama on stage!" This is a competition to submit previously unreleased drama scripts by anyone interested in drama (including existing playwrights). The Operating Committee of SPAF will select one script (during October 2009) to be performed at Daehangno by a director nominated by SPAF. The winners will have the chance to have their drama scripts bound and printed. One piece will be selected among the winners to be performed at next year's SPAF. (However, if there aren't any pieces that meet the criteria, such a selection will not be made.)

The Young Critics Award is a chance to identify and evaluate trends and values in contemporary performing arts. The event is intended to provide an opportunity to develop a new horizon in criticism and to evaluate and assess the direction of and aesthetical and philosophical positions espoused by SPAF.
Apply between Nov.16(Mon) and Dec.11(Fri) The winner will be announced in The Korean Theatre Review (a monthly magazine) and Drama and Criticism (a quarterly magazine).

This annual regular meeting of those involved in festivals in Asia will meet to discuss the current status and future direction of Asian festivals. The general assembly, which will be part of the 6th Seoul Forum, will provide an opportunity to forge new relationships and to strengthen networks among those involved in the world of culture and the arts.

La Tortuga de Darwin will be performed to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Darwin and the 150th anniversary of the publication of ‘The Origin of Species'. This event will include a lecture on the world of playwright, Juan Mayorca, presented by the translator, a lecture by the author of ‘Darwin's Dinner' on the controversy surrounding the theory of evolution, and a special lecture by the director.
A post-SPAF event to gather a variety of opinions on the works presented and general operation of the festival. Recommendations and criticism will be used to make better preparation for next year's SPAF.

Łaźnia Nowa is the youngest theater in Krakow, Poland. The artistic and main director is Bartosz Szydłowski, who also holds the Devine Comedy Festival as the Art Director.
This theater will be one of SPAF's international collaboration partner for next year.

SPAF will set up a booth at the Performing Arts Market in Seoul 2009, which is held in conjunction with SPAF. It will allow SPAF to promote and advertise itself to overseas directors and performances arts institutions in addition to marketing Korean drama and the overseas pieces presented at SPAF.
